Cam recently accepted a new job with Box so we moved to Menlo Park, California. It was a very bittersweet move, but we are looking forward to the adventure ahead. It took a village to pack us, move us and unpack us (family, friends, jd's, packers & lots of kipper the dog - conner's favorite cartoon). But we are finally moved into our new place and slowly starting to get the lay of the land.
Cam, his dad and Zach left last Tuesday to drive the U-Haul and my car all the way to California. They stopped in at Claire & Billy's in Vegas for some delicious food and rest. Meanwhile, Conner and I rested from all the packing and hung out with my parents and friends as much as possible.
Nonnie spoiled Conner with some new shoes...probably because he was yelling "owie owie" whenever we put on his old shoes ;)
and a delicious lunch at La Duni (one of my favorites!)
Here we are leaving to fly to San Francisco with Delena on Friday. It was a tearful goodbye, but Conner did so well on the flight.
When we arrived the boys had already unloaded the truck and set up all the big furniture. So we ate some yummy pizza and went to bed at 8pm. It is hard adjusting to west coast time!
Sunday morning we walked to the farmer's market in downtown Menlo Park and were amazed at the beautiful organic fruits, veggies, flowers and more that lined the street at the popup Sunday market. Delena spoiled me with my favorite flowers (ranunculous) and she also picked out amazing veggies and made a delicious dinner that evening.
Of course they surprised Conner too, with an adorable little Dinosaur chair :)
We got so much done over the weekend with John & Delena's help. It already feels like our home. Another tearful goodbye on Tuesday morning and we were on our own.
We drove Cam to work on his first day, but by the second day he took the CalTrain! Conner and I have enjoyed walking with him to the train in the mornings. And getting some coffee afterwards!
If you want to see what Cam's workplace is like, checkout their Pinterest page. They even have a giant slide that goes from the 2nd floor down to the first. Who needs an elevator?
Needless to say it is a big change from any job either one of us has had.
Cam gets to wear jeans and a t-shirt to work if he wants, another big change!
Here are a few pics of our place as it is coming together.
I'll post more as we get it in order.
Dee Dee & Conner in the "baaaaf"
my beautiful ranunculous from the farmer's market
our dining room, my favorite room so far,
probably because it is the only one that has something hanging on the walls :)
the adorable new tea towels that I framed
- a house warming gift from Cam's aunt & uncle
make shift desk, that has already moved into our
bedroom because conner cannot keep his hands off it ;)
My sunny reading spot.
I mean I've only read in it once, but it is pretty cozy & comfy!
More pics to come...
